Grabbed one Yugo and one German cook set from
http://www.landmineadventure.co.uk/ (no affiliation, but great customer service and good prices) and a couple of gel cookers (great little things). My flint and steel & fire kit arrived this morning also, along with a radar key and a couple of NBC suits.
Constructed what can only be described as a paracord collar for the dog. It's only to hold one of those flashing distress lights that you get on life jackets round the dogs neck. It looks crap, but it'll do the job for now until I can find some thin webbing that'll fit in the slit on the light. Plus it saves the bugger sneaking off. Bloody hard to see a Rottweiler in the dark!
Sorted out the car kit with some more rat packs, water, cookers etc. Stuck my tarp and hammock in there and the german para sleeping bag with a few emergency bivi bags. And more fuel.
Going to give the truck a service (well, oil, oil filter and air filter) and maybe treat it to a new tyre before the end of next month in preparation for the winter and our trip up north. Also, I'm redesigning the storage system for the boot of the car. First attempt was a complete hash job, all built on the fly. Wasn't until I'd finished it I spotted a much more efficient way of using the space - so that needs to be revisited to make sure that all the gear I have in the boot is somewhat organised and kept securely in place.
Plan to try and get out in the woods this weekend with the dog, just to have a wander round, maybe stop for a brew and get the dog used to just sitting in the woods (not chasing everything that moves) so I can take him with me for a spot of wild camping soon.
