Tried to repair the user registration page on the forum and lost the entire site for a while. Sorry if you tried it earlier and it was down. Shouldn't have happened and not even sure why it happened. It has been restored to backup and I'm now looking at what went wrong and I'll try again over the next few days.

The file site is now back up and ready for use.

I'm also looking at the main site. I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and get my own server just for the main site. Will decide this week as I'm taking a weeks leave in a few weeks, have to finish the last of last years leave allowance or lose it, and I'm planning to get a few things sorted for then. Including some down time as well.

I will be moving the forum starting at 1900 on Saturday 29-Nov-2014.

The site will be offline from that time until it starts up on the new site. This will ensure no posts are lost.

I've rebuilt the main site and put it back online. Leaving the file site offline atm while I check the coding.

Let me know if you notice any performance problems on here now.

I added a monochrome theme to the site and when people started using the theme it brought the site to its knees. I've since removed the theme and everything is going normal.

I have no idea why this site doesn't like many of the add on's I've put in place on the forum but I'm guessing it is something to do with the forum software itself.

I'm going to investigate new forum software but that will have to wait a while I'm afraid. In the meantime I'm sorry but you are all stuck with the standard colours from my sites.

Just added a dark theme in for those that found the default theme too bright for when they were working.

That completes the changes that I was making.

It can be activated by going into UserCP, where it says welcome back. Clicking on 'Edit Options' and then in the bottom right where it says 'Other Options' there is a drop down saying 'Board Style' Select the 'Frozen Designs' theme and then click 'Update Options.

I've implemented most of the changes on the board now.

I've modified the rating system and restored the Thanks system.

I've removed every user with zero posts to their name. People only need to register to comment. I'm comfortable with people reading and not replying, bit dull, but not everyone that comments has anything to say anyway. I may expand it to those that have one post and that is to say hello only.

I've added a few moderators, they are the ones whose names show up in Pink. Currently, that is Terry, Scythe13, Lightspeed, Barneyboy, Rush2112, River Song, Devonian and of course myself. I've asked a couple of others and awaiting a response so there may be a couple more joining.

I've activated the warning system. It is crude but effective each warning gives points and a countdown. Get enough points and you can't post or are banned. Make sure that you don't get caught out by it.

I've added in the News section so that people can let people know what they should find out elsewhere but there you go.

I've unbanned Sunna.

Not received any cash yet so I guess the paying forum is a no go.

Can't find a rich sponsor either.

I'll look through the archives for some articles and I'll look for a monochrome theme.

I'm just going to make a quick post that I really hope will help the whole forum, and it is not directed at anyone.

Ignore lists.

Please keep the information about your ignore list private.

Firstly, it is not important, relevant, or civil to say, suggest, or hint at, whom is on your ignore list. Such behaviour is frowned upon, as it is passive aggressive bully. As we can all recognise, bullying will not be tolerated.

Secondly, if someone is on your ignore list, they are there for a reason. If you know their comments are not helpful or worth reading, just keep them ignored. If they do an initial post that's getting good feedback, read it, then comment, but if you generally hate a person's input, put them on your ignore list, then leave them there.

Thirdly, if you are going to use an ignore list as a way to 'undermine' a person or their thread, that will not be tolerated either. As an example, if person A makes a comment that X is a good idea, then Person B comments that X is stupid but uses the excuse of an ignore list to justify their 'accidental attack'...please note we are not idiots and can see what's going on with this kind of thing.

Forthly, if you are using your ignore list as a way of indirectly bullying someone, e.g. bigging up a post in a thread when someone else said the same thing or similar earlier on, that's not cool, and it hints at my first comment. This kind of thing will get you a warning from me...to start with.

Please keep information about your ignore list private.

January has been a crap month for the site with a large chunk of it being off line.

The last lot of downtime was self inflicted. I'm bringing up the main site today and I'm just loading the DB and files atm. I'll provide an update then.
